Question Would you kill a boss simply for bragging right?

Imagine there was a boss that was said to be next to impossible beat, and offered no reward other than bragging rights would you attempt to kill the boss? Why or why not? Personally I would. I'm a huge fan of super bosses such as the ones that can be found in Final Fantasy games.

I think the skill capture is normally the "reward" for killing the super bosses.

Doing one solo is one of my favorite things to do. Heck - I like to go one on one against Sand Wurms without bringing smiting skills just for the fun of it...kind of like 2 heavyweights trading blow for blow.

I'm talking no significant reward. I suppose capping skills would be a "reward" but I'm thinking more along the lines of loot. Lets say all the boss dropped an item that had no function other than to prove you beat the boss. Would it be worth your time to beat it just to say you did?

Yeah kinda like Glint but say in an Explorable Area. Not a mission though because that could lead to unhappy people should they lose. Just a completely optional boss that has no effect on the game other than to give you bragging rights.

Ok, then yes. I've already tracked down Rotscale and was highly disappointed, so if they added something decent and worth the time and effort (by worth I mean puts up a good fight, not necessarily rewards), then yes, I'd go after a boss like that.

Give the boss a bar full of only elites, and I'd consider it. If it's going to be a super-boss, how about s/he has quality elites from every profession, so anybody going after him will be able to get a goodie.

Make it drop something.
Bragging rights isn't much, UNLESS it makes your character glow a certain colour, or something that makes you REALLY stand out in front of everyone.
Glint isn't really hard with 8 people, it's hard because she catches everyone off guard.
The Crystal Hibernation thing is great, just make it cast instantly and it's that much harder.

If you want it to have elites from every profession, give it more than eight skills (counting monster only skills) just to make it that much harder.
